KMRL conducts regular audits for hazardous conditions, such as unsecured billboards and structural weaknesses, to prevent third-rail obstructions during monsoon periods. We collaborate with IITs and CSIR-SERC for viaduct structural monitoring.
Construction Phase (OHS) Protocols
During Phase II construction, KMRL mandates Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management Plans for all contractors. This includes:
- Monsoon Preparedness: Stabilizing temporary structures and clearing drainage.
- Community Safety: Managing dust, noise, and vibration in dense urban zones.
- Traffic Wardens: Deployed to manage diversions and protect pedestrians.
